Cowboy Up Chicago!
Uncle Fatty’s love of Country Music began some 40 odd years ago. In the late 1960’s Uncle Fatty met a young Country Music artist named Willie Nelson while traveling through Nashville. Nelson was so taken by his fun loving attitude that he asked him to be one of his roadies. Later, Uncle Fatty aligned himself with Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings and the burgeoning outlaw country movement that made them stars in the late 1970s. In fact many people who ran in those circles swear that Nelson’s cross over classic "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain," was actually inspired by Uncle Fatty, who had been devastated by the death of “The King” Elvis Presley in 1977 and was found by Nelson crying in the rain.
Since his touring days, no matter where Uncle Fatty has travelled he has always maintained his love of Country Music, especially Live Country Music. Whenever he comes to Chicago to check on his latest nightlife endeavor, Uncle Fatty’s Rum Resort, he listens to one and only one country music station, US99.5. In fact, on his last visit he made Jimmy Villa, his nephew and Uncle Fatty’s General Manager, promise to start a Country Music Night. Jimmy contacted US 99.5 and created “Cowboy Up”, Uncle Fatty’s very own Country Music Concert Series.
Cowboy Up and Uncle Fatty’s will continually provide Chicago with weekly Live Country Music Bands and solo artists. Live Country Music, free Line Dance Lessons, and a plethora of Chicago’s finest drink specials will be a Tuesday Night staple in Lincoln Park.
Cowboy Up will feature a monthly contest the last Tuesday of each month called Country Chaos. Each month’s Country Chaos will feature four Country Bands battling Live on stage for the Country Chaos Title and $1000 in cash. Uncle Fatty’s is proud to join the likes of Joe’s and Carol’s Pub as one of Chicago land’s premiere providers of Live Country Music.
